Our mission is to stimulate learning through creativity, play and exploration. We fulfill our mission by offering programs focused on literacy, health and nutrition, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) topics. Great Ex recognizes that play is absolutely essential for the healthy development of children and gives them the building blocks to succeed in school and beyond, allowing them to build confidence, develop fine and gross motor skills, and develop social skills and language.

Great Explorations strives to create access to museum programming for all of the children in our community ensuring that low income and at risk children have equal opportunities to participate in the museum’s educationally enriching programming.
We know that providing quality educational experiences as well as fostering a love of learning in children helps us close the education gap in our community.
Great Ex provides countless opportunities at the museum for low income, disadvantaged children through the following methods: free school field trips, free membership and passes, free educational outreach activities, camp scholarships, Great Connections and free events.
While the museum is currently closed due to COVID-19, we are continuing our mission by providing digital content for educational play at home on our website.

With your participation in our first-ever virtual walk/run, Great Explorations will be able to continue providing meaningful learning experiences to children throughout our community.
